New Me Log # 4: Badminton
Brunch: 1 cup of corned beef pasta, 1 glass of Coke Light
Dinner: 5 pieces of buffalo chicken tenders. one cup of chicken caesar, lost count in firecracker fries in NSG
Sweets taken: 1 big slice of Tiramisu Meltdown due to Nanay's insistence
It was my company's Tournament Levelling Day in Badminton Central last Saturday. I went there with my team to level off among with other officemates and have fun. Went through about 3-4 games with my usual hyper mood but avoided diving on the taraflex floors before they find out that I intend to make a career out of this tournment.
You see, it is different playing for a prize than playing for fun. You get to feel the jitters and the pressure from your partner to win. You feel nervous as the crowd watches you. Ang hirap! I would prefer pretending to play for fun than taking the tournament seriously except that I'm going to practice whenever possible to save myself from embarassment of not trying at all.
Quick Review of Halina sa Parokya by PNE
This album still has the PnE flavor for "kagaguhan" and spoofing popular songs like System of the Down's Chopsuey. But they still sure are funny as hell. I can smell another "novelty song" becoming a movie. Hint: Sounds like a Shaider Theme Song. PnE, please choose your artists to jam with before you lose your edge. Rico Blanco is fine. FrancisM is fine. Pero Gloc-9? Bwakana! Pakantahin niyo na lang mga accoustic niyo with April Boy. Kinakarir niyo na yata pagiging novelty band ninyo. Madali kayong malalaos niyan.
Btw, I enjoyed the coloration book that comes with the album.
Quick Review of Brownman Revival
Their cover songs offer an upbeat version that brings more life from its original particularly Ehead's Maling Akala, Janno's Binibini at VST's Ikaw Lang Ang Aking Mahal. However, their original compositions is starting to sound the same to me.
Yes to Bikes and Motorcycles as Alternative Transport

I was once asked by a friend if a car plan in a job offer would lure me to take it. Personally, I was never a believer of owning a four wheel vehicle. It is true that it can get very convenient to get anywhere you want to go especially for someone like me who has the itch to move and travel around. But whenever I start imagining to have a car of my own, I would often think about the cost of maintaining a car. The car would need to have regular check-up and maintainance, renew car insurance, pay for gas and parking and painstakingly clean it every day. Cars can be a necessity in some countries but in the Philippines, it is becoming a luxury. Honestly, I think it is one of the major factors why we have awful traffic in Manila. We just have too many cars!
I believe that the best way to conserve gas and solve the oil crisis is to execute the government's plan to promote bikes and motorcycles as alternative means of transport. That means, they have to build biking lanes to protect the riders from being harassed by those four wheel vehicles, be it bus, cars, jeeps. It can promote a healthy lifestyle especially for people who bike to work within bikable distances. For motorbikes, it can cost for as low as 40 km/liter which is big savings. Then, the government should promote public commute for those who live afar as means of transport. There will be less cars on the road and it will give drivers and conductors more earnings for their living. Transport systems will improve as everybody will eventually rely on commuting. Less smoke belchers in the highways thus we save the air we breathe.
So I vote yes to bikes, motorbikes and public transport to rule the roads. No to luxury cars and unecessary transports that can burn up gas, lead the world to a major oil crisis and destroy the environment.
